What type of Business should use Pinterest- Should I Post on Pinterest?
Let’s talk my about one of my absolute favorite things – Pinterest! Today’s post is all about who should use Pinterest. I’m going to be that one Pinterest Manager that says not every business should be on Pinterest. But wait, don’t click off yet! Because there are tons of businesses that definitely SHOULD be on Pinterest.
After you read this post if you are 100% convinced you NEED to be utilizing Pinterest for your business, check out this article about strategic ways to use Pinterest for marketing. And if you need some help getting your account optimized and ready, reach out to us about our Pinterest services!
Who Should Start Using Pinterest Right Now?
- Online Businesses
If traffic to your website is your #1 goal, then Pinterest is for you. Bottom line. This includes businesses that sell digital products online, blogs, online courses, virtual health coaches, etc. If you have an owned domain that is actively producing new content (new items in shop, new blog posts, etc.) Pinterest can be an absolute powerhouse in driving you traffic. You are the ideal business that should use Pinterest and should be posting! If you are a geographically specific shop (like a brick + mortar boutique or local coffee shop) then Pinterest is not for you. I would 100% focus my efforts on Instagram or Facebook for local audiences.
- Educational Influencers
I’m convinced not all Instagram superstars are meant for Pinterest – and that’s ok! If your content is produced with the purpose to entertain and not educate, Pinterest isn’t the best option. No one cares about your TikTok dance routine on Pinterest. Sorry, not sorry! I like to think of Instagram as a busy restaurant while Pinterest is a quiet library. Now, that’s not to say your educational content can’t be entertaining. Just make sure it is educational. If you post educational content surrounding topics people are genuinely looking for advice, tips, and guidance on, Pinterest is a great marketing strategy for you. Evergreen content is also ideal for Pinterest, so think of topics that will be relevant for years. For example, How to Style a Denim Jacket, The Best Meatloaf Recipe, How to Start Homeschooling, Gardening Tips, Best Beauty Products from Sephora, and more!
- Niches that are Searched for on Pinterest
I think I’ve alluded to this a little already but if your business is something people are on Pinterest searching for, then your business could use Pinterest to get more blog traffic. One way to find out if Pinterest users would be interested in your content is to just start typing some keywords into the search bar and see if anything comes up! For example, I started typing in “how to sew…” and a ton of ideas came up. There are Pins covering how to make your own clothes, the basics of stitching, and sewing for beginners. Clearly, people are searching for this on the platform.
- Influencers Primarily Focused on Building their own Website
There are A LOT of ways to make money with social media these days. Maybe your primary focus is building your YouTube channel or growing your Instagram following. If that’s you – Pinterest might not be the best place to focus on. Pinterest prefers links to claimed domains and unfortunately, you can’t claim a YouTube channel or social media platform anymore. That’s not to say you can’t have success with Pinterest, it just means it’s going to be hard, and I wouldn’t necessarily put you in the category of businesses that MUST be using Pinterest.
However, if you consistently post new content to your website (twice a month or more) then Pinterest 100% is a great way to build your online brand and get more website traffic.
In short – if you are an online blogger, business, or coach that posts fresh, evergreen content consistently to your own website, you should be on Pinterest!
